Adirondack Sky

You may notice that there are a few images from this vantage point in the Gallery.  It's because our house is only a five minute ride from this wonderful scenic overlook and it has provided some stunning colors for me over the years.

September is one of the best months to capture dramatic skies in the Adirondacks because it is the time of year where a variety of weather fronts seem to bump into each other.  You still have some warm fronts coming through, while more cold fronts keep slowly inching there way down from the north.  And of course there is always the September hurricanes that come through.  Generally the hurricanes that thrash there way through the eastern seaboard break up by the time they get this north, but it's the remnants of those systems that can create some great light and color to shoot.
