Backlit Fern

 The Wild Gardens of Acadia are an interesting place to visit.  There is a whole section of ferns that make for wonderful shooting subjects.  This Interrupted Fern was nicely backlit on a high overcast day.  It had a nice shape to it and wanted to try and capture its beauty as it was arching into full bloom.

For backlighting, what I do is meter for the highlights and then shoot towards the underexposed side to retain detail in the highlights and letting other parts sometimes fall into a silhouette.
