Bloodroot bloom

The Bloodroot is an interesting flower.  It is one of the first flowers of spring.  It has a wonderful looking leaf and a bloom that seems to only pop open when the sun comes out.  There's only a single bloom to each plant.  they also seem to grow in small communities in the woods - I have yet to just stumble upon one, there's always a group.

For this shot, I got real low and wanted to concentrate my focus on the stamens.  I wanted a shallow DOF, so I chose an f/stop of 3.2.  I metered the whites and overexposed a stop.  I don't like to overexpose white too much because I don't want to loose detail in the white if I can help it.
