Bog Asphodel

The Bog Asphodel or Bog Candle is a rare and endangered plant.  It only grows in the Pine Barrens and only in certain conditions.  The Pine Barrens is a thick wooded region with lots and lots of undergrowth.  This plant grows in sunny, open bog areas, making it a hard plant to find.  But where it does grow, it can look like a sea of gold.  This unique treasure blooms in mid June through mid July.
