Fox Glove

I grow these in my backyard.  My initial intention was to attract hummingbirds with them.  But it's been five years and I haven't seen any hummingbirds.  So now they are a very nice row of spring time flowers that I enjoy shooting.

For this shot I stopped down to f/16 so I could maximize my depth.  I wanted to show the drops of rain and the lines and crevices in this unique looking flower.  Balancing good depth without a distracting background is one of the great challenges of flower photography.  This is one of the few shots at such a small aperture that I've been happy to display.
