Interrupted Fern At the Wild Gardens of Acadia, there are many interesting subjects to shoot. In the early spring, the ferns begin to unfurl and it is a wonderful sight to see. Ferns have interesting shape and detail. Whether you want to explore aspects of them or the entire plant, they can occupy the imagination for an entire session of shooting. I shot this using Provia 100 pushed one stop because of an annoying breeze that made shooting a chore. I was trying to maximize the detail of the plant as well as its shape (I know, I was being greedy) while trying to keep the backgrounds under control. Some of my efforts were successful, others, thanks to the breeze, were not. This was shot at f/8 @ 1/60 using a 50mm macro lens. In Photoshop, I slightly blurred the background a little more than it already was but thought it needed a touch more. |
