Beach Shell

This is a shell I found at the beach but I photographed it while up in the Adirondacks. I was waiting for a fellow photographer to arrive for a weekend of winter shooting.  I was checking the pockets of my jacket, looking for something, when I came across two shells that I had picked up from a session I did at Sandy Hook NJ a few weekends prior.  With time on hand, I decided to shoot this.  I used a 50mm macro lens at f/22 to pull as much detail as possible.  I placed the shell on DVD case and positioned it to where the light was shining in the best.  Then I metered for the highlights and bracketed.
