Predawn Color at Sandy Hook I like to shoot at the shore between September and May. It's quiet and the beach has time to recover from the pounding it takes from the public. The only people on the beaches at this time of the day are fishermen and surfers. A lot of times they are absent as well. I shot this image at a focal length of 70mm. It was one of those situations where the color disappeared the closer you got to it. So instead of getting closer, I stayed in one spot and brought the scene closer to me. With this image, I metered the colors on the beach after the wave pulled back and bracketed from there. |
